Level 2 Early Years Practitioner
Who is this course for?
This course is for any prospective student who is looking to obtain a license to practice in becoming a childcare practitioner at level 2 and develop their knowledge of caring for children for future training or employment.
What will you learn?
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce. The course is a full time course which has both classroom learning and practical experience every week.

How long is this course?
This course is one year.
How will I be assessed for this course?
For this subject, students will be assessed through internally assessed units which will be conducted through coursework and classroom discussions. Students will also be expected to complete placements throughout the academic year as part of the portfolio of evidence to practice. Students will also be required to complete satisfactory observations for each placement.
Students will learn in a supportive classroom environment for their studies. Students will also be able to undertake independent study as part of this course as lead by their class teacher.
What are the entry requirements for this course?
It is desired that students have gained, or working towards, 5 GCSE's grades 3-9 including Maths and English.
Students must be aged 16-19 to study this course.
What can I go on to do after this course?
This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner across the Early Years Workforce. Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as:
- Nursery practitioner
- Classroom assistant
- Pre-school practitioner
