Who is this course for?
This course is for any prospective student that is looking to start their education and training within the Hair and Beauty sector to learn the foundation skills
What will you learn?
The Level 1 diploma is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop practical skills through the structured units. The purpose of the qualification is to develop hairdressing skills and provide a foundation for further learning.

- Follow Health and safety in the salon
- Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
- Working with others in the hair and beauty sector
- Presenting a professional image in a salon
- Shampooing and conditioning
- Colour hair using temporary colour
- Style hair using hairdressing techniques
- The art of dressing hair
- Create a hair and beauty image
- Salon reception duties
- Create and maintain retail displays in then salon
- Plaiting and twisting hair Promotion
How long is this course?
All of our Level 1 courses are one year long.
How will I be assessed for this course?
For this subject, students will be assessed through internal formal assessments for both practical and theory knowledge and exams. Building portfolio evidence of documentation to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.
Students will learn in a supportive classroom environment for their studies. Students will also be able to undertake independent study as part of this course.
What are the entry requirements for this course?
It is desired that students have gained, or working towards, 5 GCSE’s grades 2-9, including English and Maths.
Students must be aged 16-19 to study this course.
What can I go on to do after this course?
From successful completion of this course, students can go on to study another Hair and Beauty qualification or apprenticeship such as; Level 2 Ladies Hairdressing, Level 2 Barbering, Level 2 apprenticeship.
