Hair and Beauty
The Level 2 Technical Award in Hair and Beauty studies is a Level 2 vocational qualification which provides learners with an introduction to the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to gain employment or further study in the field of hairdressing, beauty therapy and spa.
This qualification is for learners who have a keen interest in hairdressing and beauty therapy and are looking to progress into employment within this sector. The knowledge and skills within this qualification can be applied to a range of varied sectors including spa, barbering, nail technology , biology, chemistry, business studies, computer science and graphic design. The course will provide the learners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge at level 2.
This qualification has been developed for schools to deliver to learners likely to be 14-16 years of age. This qualification is suitable to those who have had no previous experience and are looking for an entry route into the world of hairdressing and beauty therapy.
The qualification has been designed to be practical, and theory, with a synoptic exam that incorporates both areas at the end of year 11. this qualification explores the environment in which hair and beauty industries operate and looks back in time to develop pupils concepts of different eras and historical product ingredients and techniques.
The qualification is achieved by completing 2 mandatory units, one externally set, externally moderated assignment and one externally set, externally marked exam, sat under examina-tion conditions, both areas need to be successfully completed to gain a qualification.
