Social Studies - KS3

Our aim is to enrich our students through an ambitious thought-provoking curriculum that offers clear opportunities to promote students' spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. This allows them to gain a better understanding of the world around them creating rounded students with a strong understanding of living happily and healthily in contemporary Britain.

The Social Studies department across all levels seeks to:

  1. Teach pupils how to express their viewpoints clearly, confidently, and logically.
  2. Learn to work both independently as well as with others
  3. Consider the impact religion and belief has within Britain and wider society, acknowledging the diversity between and within religions and worldviews.
  4. Dispel inaccuracies and myths, encouraging a more inclusive society, as well as an understanding of oneself
  5. Learn the following, specified methods: to investigate, to develop empathy, to express, to recall, select and organise material; to analyse and explain the relevance and application of a perspective; to offer a balanced argument by evaluating different responses to religious, philosophical and moral issues.
